Andrés Zelaya
CHURCH PLANTER

Andrés is a second-generation Salvadorian, born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Madelia, Minnesota. He holds a B.A. in Communications from The University of Houston, a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. in Church Multiplication from Asbury Theological Seminary. His doctoral research was focused on reaching second- and third-generation Latinos in Houston with the gospel, exploring the intersection of missional disciple-making, Christianity in Latin America, and Western secularism. His research interests include missiology, cultural anthropology, contextualization, Latin American theology and history, cultural apologetics, and Neo-Calvinism.

With a passion for ministry, Andrés began preaching at a young age and has since started and served in various roles across Spanish- and English-speaking churches, schools, start-ups, and non-profits within diverse denominational contexts. He serves as the Church Planter of La Trinidad in Houston’s East End, as Pastor of Latino Initiatives at Christ the King Houston, and as Affiliate Assistant Professor of Evangelism and Leadership for Centro Latino at Fuller Theological Seminary. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America, he has served the denomination at every level – including committee work in campus ministry and church planting, participation in the committee that produced the Spanish translation of the Book of Church Order, and service on the directional team for the denomination’s Hispanic Ministries. He is a member of the Evangelical Missiological Society, the Motus Dei Network, and The Academy for Evangelism in Theological Education. He also serves on the boards of Harbor Christian Academy and Hispanic Leadership Initiative, both organizations he is passionate about in the areas of Latino leadership and childhood education.

Andrés and his wife Nancy, a registered nurse, have three children and enjoy living life in Houston's urban core. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, off-roading, biking, traveling, grilling, and cheering on F. C. Barcelona and the Minnesota Vikings.
