OUR BELIEFS

  • We are Christian.
La Trinidad embraces the biblical and historic Christian faith as it is revealed in the Bible, summarized in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds, and affirmed by all major branches of Christianity. Together with Christians throughout the ages and around the world, we believe in one God revealed eternally in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and was raised bodily from the dead. Through His atoning sacrifice and resurrection, all who trust in Him alone are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given new life by the Holy Spirit. We hold to the authority and inspiration of the Bible as the Word of God, the ultimate guide for faith and practice.
  • We are Protestant.
Protestants began as a renewal movement within historic Christianity, reclaiming the church’s ancient faith. Rooted in the Reformation’s principle of Scripture alone, we affirm that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. We uphold sola Scriptura—that the Bible is the supreme authority over church tradition, human opinions, or ecclesiastical decrees. We embrace the “priesthood of all believers,” meaning every follower of Jesus has direct access to God, is called to worship, serve, and share the gospel, and bears responsibility for growing to be more like Christ.
  • We are Reformed.
Born in the 16th century amid the wider Protestant Reformation, the Reformed movement sought to reform the church’s doctrine and worship according to the clear teaching of Scripture. As such, Reformed churches do not add any new doctrines to the Christian faith. “Reformed” signals our commitment to being semper reformanda—always reforming our beliefs and practices according to the clear teachings of the Bible. We celebrate God’s sovereign rule over all creation and His gracious covenant promises across history. We emphasize God’s initiative in salvation—choosing and calling sinners for His glory—and the central place of covenant theology in understanding the Bible’s unfolding story. Our worship, preaching, and sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) flow from this heritage, shaped by confessions like the Westminster Standards, to point hearts to Christ and God’s unchanging faithfulness.
  • We are Presbyterian.
La Trinidad is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). As of 2025, the PCA counted over 400,000 members across more than 1,600 churches in the U.S., adding thousands of new members and planting dozens of new churches each year. This steady growth makes the PCA one of the fastest-growing Presbyterian bodies in North America, even in a largely secular cultural climate. As a member in the PCA, we have regional accountability and support as well as partnership in mission both at home and abroad. For more about the PCA’s vision, history, and beliefs, visit pcanet.org.
